My Big "1st Grader"

Summer break has come and gone again, and as always, it just wasn't LOOOONGGGG enough. But, I must not complain, because with it this year came lots of exciting adventures around our house. From spending time at the lake with great friends, movies with daddy, swimming with our neighbors and other friends at their home pools, to going on vacation, this summer blessed our home with some great memories. I just love every single minute that I get to spend with my family, because when my girls are older, I hope they can look back and reflect on the great times we had together as a family.
Today marked the beginning of Hallie's 1st day of 1st Grade. She was so excited to get back to school and see her friends. It makes me sad that every year she seems more grown-up, independent, and more responsible to take care of her own needs. I know this is the "normal" part of growing up, but I sure do miss her baby stages. As I was fixing her hair this morning, I asked her to share with me her feelings on her 1st day of school as a 1st grader. This is what I got... "She is sooo excited about spending the year with so many great friends, making new friends, learning new things, and getting to know her new teacher, Mrs. Monica." Even though I hate the fact that she is getting older, I do enjoy watching her little mind develop and all the things we get to share together. This is it in a nutshell...."I LOVE BEING A MOMMY!" Hallie insisted that I include the last 2 photos of her hands and feet. She is really proud of her pedicure and manicure. I must say that she worked the last 2 months to make enough money to get those services done. We sure believe in working and earning your own way around our house, and that is just what she done. Since school has been out she has helped me fold laundry, picked up her room and the toy room on a daily basis, took her dirty clothes to the laundry room, helped water flowers, dried dishes, and many other chores that she has been asked to do. For all that hardwork, she was able to start her 1st day of 1st Grade with some fancy toes and pretty nails. Way to go Hallie...Your daddy and I are sure proud of your work ethic! This post is also wishing my wonderful, hardworking husband and all my teacher friends a GREAT school year!
