'"Meaningful" Monday

I don't know about the rest of you, but most Monday's around our house are pretty hectic and we are normally glad to get them behind us and get on with the rest of the week. However, this morning as I woke up and got Hannah ready for Kyle to take to my mom's for the day, I just decided that today was going to have a lot of meaning. What do I mean by this? I mean that no matter what the day threw in front of me...whether it be lots of phone calls at work, the usual hustle and bustle with making sure everything goes well with everyone, that I was going to have a great day! When I went to wake Hallie up, it was the usual for a Monday..."Mom, I am sleepy...can I sleep for 5 more minutes?" But, I just replied "No mam!....we have to get up and find meaning and purpose for this pretty day that God has given us." Immediately, she said, "what does that mean?" So I begin to explain to her as I was helping her get ready that it is important to look for meaning and purpose in our life each day. Once again..."what does that mean mom?" So here I go again...."meaning and purpose!" "Hallie, meaning and purpose in your life is finding the good things in our life that have meaning...such as your parents, family, friends, health, food, etc....all the positive things that we have in our life." She replied..."Okay Mom, I understand now!" So then I went on to ask her about what she is thankful for in her life and what has great meaning to her. And then, is when my "Meaningful Monday" really begin to get better. She said "Mommy, I am thankful that I have you, daddy, and Hannah to love me. Also, I am glad that you take me to church and that God loves me. And, I am thankful that I have you and dad to help me with my school work...like my turkey homework that we did last night. And, I am thankful that I have lots of friends...that is all I can think of now." Enough said! I am so glad that on this Monday, November 16, 2009, that I woke up with a great attitude and desiring to find meaning and purpose for such a wonderful day. My talk with my 5 year old, and knowing that she has understanding of things that have great meaning and purpose in her life was worth it all! I just wish I could trade all my "Manic Monday's" in for "Meaningful Monday's!" Hope you enjoy her Turkey Project...our whole family worked on this project Sunday night, and for Hallie and the rest of us...it had great meaning! Hope everyone has a great week!

Such a great attitude. I think everyone wouldn't dread Monday so bad if they had this type of outlook. Great Insight.

I love your post and it's very true. I was just thinking today specifically about Hallie and how I had known her since the day she was born but I didn't really know her until this year. She IS TRULY one of the sweetest little girls! She has the best little attitude and personality. Every day before I put her on the bus to go home she first turns around and gives me the biggest hug: ) I love her to pieces!
